Military Birthdays

November 10 was the Marine Corps birthday and today (11) is Veterans. Be thankful. Freedom is not free.

Election Day

This will not be an untypical mid term election.The majority party almost always loses some seats in mid term.The important thing is to vote. Only about 50% of elegible voters exercize that priv. in the USA.

Football

Iowa over Mich. State and Iowa State over Kansas. I love this. Espeically with Bloody Mary's

summer

Labor Day weekend and summer will soon be over. It has gone way too fast after a long nasty winter. Beth has recovered from her ankle break and sprain and we are planning on doing some fall hiking.

Yellow Ribbon ceremony today at Camp Dodge. B and I will help run the VFW table.

Beth and I are headed for Camp Dodge on Saturday for a yellow ribbon ceremony for spouces and relatives of the troops overseas. We will be running the VFW table to answer questions and help those who have questions.

The leaking of classified military information by the wiki sight should be stopped immediately. This should be of the highest priority as it poses dangers for our troops. PF

Grandkids

All the kids have returned home. We had a great two weeks and are thoroughly worn out.

Beth is doing better and walking with only a small limp.Headed for Ted's Coney Island tonight for a gutbuster coney.

This is the third day in a row of sunshine. We are finally getting our flowers planted.Beth is hobbling a little faster each day and went swimming this morning

varied news

Beth is now off of all crutches, walkers, walking boots etc.Now it is rehab time.I will be the coach.
Saylorville dam road and all boat ramps have been closed due to the rising water. We drove up this morning from indiala and the Des Moines River is way out of its banks south of Des moines. Hopefull the Grandview area Levee will not break again this year.It's sad that flood prone areas are so often occupied by those already in need.Kids and grandkids coming soon. My 9 year old grandson asked his dad If Adam and eve were apes.:)

More water

It rained 2 1/2 more inches last night. Its supposed to return tonight. Enow is Enow.I'm builing an Ark.I learned how in the Corps.

Water, water everywhere

Drove up to Saylorville today and there is a tremendous amount of water coming out of the spillway. It was raining but that didn't seem to bother the deer.

broken ankle

It's been six weeks since Beth broke her ankle and sprained her other one. She is now walking in a boot and no crutches so we are making progress. Feels good.

Champ

Shop at Champs for sporting goods. I went out today and got a 20% discount for being a veteran. Probably helped that the salesman was in the Corps.

healing

Long time

My lady is healing and is now off and on crutches and much more mobile than a month ago.It's not permanent and we feel blessed than it is not.Semper Fi and God Bless the Marine Corps

Memorial Day

I have not been on for awhile as I have been busy taking care of my wounded wife and working part time. I will be distributing poppies tomorrow for my VFW post and encourgage everyone to donate generously to the VFW as the money will go to disbled Vets. God Bless American. Sgt. Rick

broken bones

Things are pretty slow here with Mrs. P. laid up with a left broken ankle and a right sprained ankle.

bad luck

my wife fell on Monday and broke her left ankle and sparained her right angle. No fun. Things are improving but its not a good situation.

We're both off at 3 to get our arteries checked for blockage.Sounds like fun

Long productive day

Worked my part time job this morning. Walked an hour with my lovely wife and at 1:30 went to the VFW post for a cold beer and some socializing. Good times.
